Thank you Kristen for writing this guest article!

Getting new moms back to the bodies they want
If you’ve recently had a baby, chances are there are two things on your mind. First, how to take the best care possible of your little one. Second, how to get your body back where it was before. Both can be answered in part by simply keeping yourself healthy. A healthy and better feeling mom is better able to care for her newborn. Watching your own health means taking your time with losing your pregnancy weight.

Luckily, according to women’s health, you will likely lose about 10 pounds right after birth. I don’t know about you, but that’s a great kick-starter and something I’m thankful our bodies do themselves naturally. How quickly you lose the rest of your weight depends partially on how much you gained. If you gained the
recommended 25 to 35 pounds, it will take you a couple of months to lose it. If you gained more, you will need more time.

One key to remember is to lose weight gradually. Don’t starve yourself. Keeping your stamina up to help your body recuperate and to have the energy to take care of your new baby, especially if nursing is a priority. Eat sensibly by choosing a balance meal with enough protein and plenty of vegetables, fruits and grain to adhere to your babies nursing. A fantastic diet is great for a myriad of health concerns and is recommended by the American Cancer Society when dealing with
types of mesothelioma. Cutting out soda alone will cause you to lose weight.

Ask your doctor whether you have healed enough to begin a fitness regime. One of the best forms of exercise is walking. New mothers can buy strollers so they can take their newborns with them as they walk or jog. Also look into swimming or other light aerobic exercise to help shed pounds. Although, I’m not sure if floating your baby along with you in the pool is a good idea

If the weight is not coming off easily, break it down into manageable steps. Once you reach the next milestone, celebrate. Buy yourself a new outfit that you can wear until you lose the rest of the weight or something a size to small for something to work towards. Knocking your milestones out one after another is a great confidence boost!

As you follow and pass milestones, enjoy the first few months you have with your baby. Record her first smiles. Take her out when the weather is nice. Enjoy quiet moments together. Whether moms buy strollers or find other ways to ease their bodies back into shape, spending time with their little ones makes everything else worthwhile.

I've Been Tagged!!

Dawn over at Mom-A-Logues has tagged me! I'm so excited, she's so sweet! So here are the answers to her 11 questions.

1.  What is your go-to meal to cook for your family? One of our favorites is fried potatoes and kielbasa with bacon and cheese. Yeah, not healthy but we love it!

2.  What, if anything, would you change about your blog? Right now there is a lot I would change, but alas I don't have the time. A redesign is in the works though!

3.  If you could only keep one thing in your wardrobe, what would it be? Comfy pants! I love my comfy pants and I am not sure I could live without them. Yes, I am a bum when at home and confess sometimes when I go out to the store.

4.  Warm sunny beaches or snow covered mountains? Snow covered mountains as long as I can stay inside where there is a warm fire burning.

5.  What's your favorite book? The Twilight saga. I love them, and am addicted! The Black Dagger Brotherhood is my second favorite series and plan to read The Hunger Games soon.

6.  What 3 words best describe your personality? Happy, Loving and laid back.

7.  What's the first thing you'd splurge on if you won the lottery? Oh wow how am I supposed to come up with one answer. I guess first I'd pay off a house and car and credit cards, and then I'd spoil the heck out of hubby and the kids.

8.  Do you have an embarrassing song that you rock out to on your I-pod? Nope, I love the music I love and don't think any of them are embarrassing.

9.  Do you have a hidden talent? LOL...in my mind I have a lot of hidden talents.

10.  What's your favorite reality TV show? Big Brother! I live for it in the summer!

11.  What's your favorite sport and why? I don't watch sports but if I had to choose it'd be Nascar because I know a little about it and can tolerate it.

Baby Slings

When my children were babies I loved keeping them close to me no matter what I was doing so I knew they were safe and felt comforted. Baby Slings provide the ability to keep them close at all times. I'm constantly amazed at the new styles of slings on the market making it so much easier for parents to carry their child and have their hands free to do what ever chore or task they need. Grocery shopping? Who really wants to put their baby in a cart that has been shared by tons of other babies? A sling keeps your baby on you and away from those germs all while allowing mom or dad to push the cart. More importantly it distributes weight properly so you don't end up with a sore back after carrying baby all day. Slings are made for babies up to 44 lbs, and for different settings. Carry baby in front, in back or on your hip. Going swimming? There is a sling for that to! Slings are an affordable way to keep your baby safe at all times. If your baby is attached to you there is no need to worry about someone grabbing him/her out of the cart at a store.
There are several different types of baby support out there and certainly one that you can find to fit your needs, lifestyle and budget. Grab several different styles to match your wardrobe. Imagine the relief knowing your baby is comfortable, safe and warm!

TV at home

I recently went to http://www.cannonsatellite.com/ to see if there were any good TV deals in my neighborhood because sometimes I get really bored during the day. I know that’s terrible to say since I’m a stay at home mom but my kids are just really good and they don’t need all that much tending to so sometimes I’m at a loss for what to do with myself. I long for the days when I had work piling up on my desk and so much to do I never thought I’d get my head out of the weeds but you know, that’s ok. I wish sometimes I had more incentive to go back to workbut knowing I’m here when my kids need me is reason enough for me to stay home and at least now the house is far cleaner and the food much better than it was while I was working! I know my husband likes having me here and it’s nice to know I’m contributing to my family if not in a different way.
