Funny Things Friday

Yep it's time for some more Funny Things Friday. Just a reminder:
**I answer phones at work so I am constantly hearing funny things. There is only 1 of the companies I work for where I live so I will not directly refer to that company but instead will call it XYZ. What I will tell you is I am a receptionist for a car dealership. That is very important to keep in mind as you hear these things. Some make me laugh and some well they just irritate the hell out of me. All stories are true events! Names will be changed for privacy purposes.

Me: Thank you for calling XYZ how may I direct your call?
Cust: I'm sorry who is this?
Me: This is XYZ
Cust: Are you sure this isn't headquarters for Bo Jangles?
Me: Yep pretty sure! (Ok I'm not supposed to be sarcastic but I had to do it.)
Cust: Well I dialed the numbered to Bo Jangles
Me: I'm sorry but you must have misdialed
Cust: I never misdial, this must be Bo Jangles!!! (She said this very loud)
Me: **blink, blink**

That's all the calls I got for you today because it's been a heck of a week and it's also very early in the morning and I'm getting ready to go to work. Hope y'all have a great weekend! Now I leave you with some funny pics.

It's All In The Box

Today I'm going to talk to you about mailboxes. Yes, I'm serious because there is an entire story behind our mailbox when we moved into our home.

We moved from Alabama to TN in 2007. We had 2 days while we were here to look at homes and we looked at a ton of them. I did not want the house we are in (yes, I'm very thankful to have a home since I know you are reading this Prince Charming!) but it had carpet. I hate carpet and of course Prince Charming promised to put hardwood floors in the living room since I don't like carpet. Well I should have known better, but I wanted to have faith that he would do it. Need I tell you that he put new carpeting down in the living room?

That is not my story though. When we moved here there was a lot of work to be done in the house and around the property. Prince Charming loves the yard to look nice and I must admit he does a fantastic job at making it look nice all the time. Bless his heart!

Well our mailbox was one of those cheap ones on a flimsy metal pole. Prince Charming was doing his yard work, cleaning it all up and making it look good and was chopping away on all the over growth around the mailbox. When he cut all the growth around the mailbox down, it fell over. I swear to you this is a true statement.

Well then we had to go on our journey of finding a new one. I had a dream of getting one of those pretty decorative mailboxes, but he had another plan. I still dream about having me a fancy mailbox and so comes the website searching.

I happened upon this website that has mailboxes for sale. They have some traditional mailboxes and some gorgeous really catches my eye modern ones. These are good quality mailboxes at great prices. They sell both residential and commercial mailboxes. They also offer curbside decor that will really enhance your curbside appeal.

No Name Calling Week

Did you know that this week is No Name Calling week. I know for some of you this may be hard. People like to call me names - like perfect, beautiful, fun, silly, loyal...you know all those wonderful things.

Seriously though, this is No Name Calling week. I think it's a great idea. Tell your kids and maybe they will go a week without calling someone a name. Maybe it will catch on and they will stop doing it.

What is it:
No Name-Calling Week is an annual week of educational activities aimed at ending name-calling of all kinds and providing schools with the tools and inspiration to launch an on-going dialogue about ways to eliminate bullying in their communities.

Who should participate:
Anyone who wants to work towards eliminating harmful name-calling, harassment and bullying in their school can be a part of No Name-Calling Week, whether you are a teacher, student, guidance counselor, coach, librarian or bus driver.

No Name-Calling Week was inspired by a young adult novel entitled "The Misfits" by popular author, James Howe. The book tells the story of four best friends trying to survive the seventh grade in the face of all too frequent taunts based on their weight, height, intelligence, and sexual orientation/gender expression. Motivated by the inequities they see around them, the "Gang of Five" (as they are known) creates a new political party during student council elections and run on a platform aimed at wiping out name-calling of all kinds. Though they lose the election, they win the support of the school's principal for their cause and their idea for a "No Name-Calling Day" at school.

Motivated by this simple, yet powerful, idea, the No Name-Calling Week Coalition, created by GLSEN and Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, and consisting of over 40 national partner organizations, organized an actual No Name-Calling Week in schools across the nation during the week of March 1-5, 2004. This year, No Name-Calling Week will take place the week of January 24-28, 2011. The project seeks to focus national attention on the problem of name-calling in schools, and to provide students and educators with the tools and inspiration to launch an on-going dialogue about ways to eliminate name-calling in their communities.

You Know He's Spoiled....

Yes this pic was taken at Christmas, yes this is not a great pic I know...but isn't he the cutest thing in the entire world! I have to tell you I L.O.V.E this dog!

Guapo will be 3 yrs old on May 20th. I have had him since birth and he's my baby. When he was about 4 months old a friend of mine came to see me from Ohio. We sat outside and enjoyed a fire at table and they had some drinks. Prince Charming and I can not live without our dogs.

Sorry I got off track...we were all outside enjoying a fire and they were having drinks. My little Guapo was maybe 1 pound at the time. He's very small! I didn't want him to get cold so I put him inside of my sweatshirt and he slept. That has become and unbreakable habit.

The other day I sat down on the couch with just a t-shirt on...well I had pants on also but I mean I didn't have a sweatshirt on as usual. Guapo I swear gave me a WTF look. I knew what that look meant...I didn't have a sweatshirt on. So I got up and put one on so he could climb inside.

Yep he's spoiled and I love him!

Saturday 9

Today I'm going to join for the very first time Saturday 9! From Saturday 9 they say:
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
1. Have you ever been to Japan? If not would you like to travel there?
I haven't been there, but Prince Charming was stationed in Okinawa Japan when he was in the Air Force - So does that count?

2. Have you ever played a game that required removal of clothing?
I would never do such a thing. I really haven't though!

3. Have you ever dated one of your best friends?
Yes, and I married him!

4. Have you ever kissed someone you didn't know?
Nope, I've known every single persons lips who have ever touched mine.

5. What is your secret guaranteed weeping movie?
Well any movie can make me cry. If it has a touchy moment, a happy moment, a sad moment...any kind of moment it will make me cry.

6. What feature are you most insecure about?
E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G There is nothing about me that I'm super secure about.

7. What do you miss most about being young?
The lack of bills and responsibility...yep that would be what I miss most. **sigh**

8. Who is the most annoying musical artist EVER?
Rhianna....I can not stand her!

9. Have you ever applied for a job that was an internet hoax, asking for credit history and your social security number?
No, I am very careful about my personal information. Well maybe not so careful that y'all don't know my name and the city I live in but I'm pretty careful.

Funny Things Friday...

So I have decided on Fridays I will share funny stories and pictures with you.

I answer phones at work so I am constantly hearing funny things.

Story #1:
Me: Thank you for calling XYZ how may I direct your call?
Caller: Yes ma'am, this is Mary and I was wondering if you could refer me to a OB.
Me: Ma'am this is a car dealership.
Caller: That's fine, I just need a referral to an OB.
Me: Ma'am I am a receptionist at a car dealership I can not give you referrals to an OB.
Caller: Well why didn't you tell me this was a car dealership.

Story #2:
Me: XYZ how may I direct your call? (No I don't always answer the phones the same exact way but I do always say the company name)
Caller: I just got a call from this number.
Me: **Rolling my eyes because we have 100+ employees and certainly they must all call me and let me know they are making a phone call before they do so**
Me: Do you have your car in our service department or the bodyshop?
Caller: No
Me: Did they leave a voicemail?
Caller: Yes, but they said the message was for Lynn and I don't know anybody named Lynn.
Me: **Doing my very best to contain my laughter** Ma'am it must have been the wrong number.
Caller: Well maybe but ok.

Ok now for a few funny pictures I found on hahastop.com

Valentines Smiley Cookies - Review

I was given the opportunity to try and review the Valentines Day Cookies.
My cookies arrived in a box surrounded by air packs to ensure that not a single one was broken. They came in the most adorable box that I will be using again because it's cute!

That has got to be the happiest box that I have ever seen! I love all those smiles on it. Inside of that box I found these:
The Original Smiley Cookies. They are packed nice and tight so there is no room for them to wobble all over and break. I received special cookies though, I got Heart Shaped Cookies! That's because I'm so loved ya know.
They are sealed nice and air tight to ensure their freshness when they arrive. Aren't they cute as a button. I love hearts, I love pink and I love smiles!
I had to dig right into these cookies because not only are the adorable, but they scream your name. I swear I heard them yelling, "Melissa open this plastic and try me out now!"

Now that I have confessed my weaknesses I want you to understand the true quality of these cookies because I'm always kind of skeptical about ordering any food item online.

These cookies were as good as fresh out of the oven. They obviously weren't warm, but they were delicious and soft. They weren't rock hard like an "old" cookie would get, and have what I call the perfect crumble. I'm very picky about how my cookie crumbles. (Yes that was an attempt at being funny)

The icing is so good and it does not over power the cookie at all. There is a thin layer of icing and the adorable little buttons for the eyes and nose. These cookies are not overly sweet but they will fulfill that sweet craving you have. I know in the pictures they look small, but they are not. These are good sized cookies! One will fill that sweet tooth instead of 3 or 4. I am usually the one who eats several cookies at one time. By several I mean 5 or 6. Not these though, I only needed one which left me some to share with the family. My daughter loved these also.

You can visit their website and purchase many different kinds of cookies. You don't have to get just smiley cookies or heart cookies, but they also have Cookie Gift Baskets. You can create your own cookie, pick your shape and pick your colors. These will make great gifts for that special someone in your life, your kids or if you are feeling especially generous me!

Now head on over and check out Smiley Cookie and order some of these super delicious cookies!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. American Poverty

I have stated to a few of you that I had planned to bring awareness to something every Wednesday. I feel it's important to educate everyone I possibly can on these issues that I can. Even if 1 person learns something new then I will be happy.

With all that said January is American Poverty awareness month. I don't think that any of us who don't live it really understand just how bad it is. So with some information I got from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops I want to bring to light just how bad this is.

There are approximately 37.3 million Americans living below the poverty line. 1 in 6 children (that's 18%) fall into that category. This is so troublesome to me. I hate to think of any child going hungry or going to bed without food. It saddens me that we haven't found a better way to ensure that our children are cared for.

There are so many simple ways that we can help. You could find a local food bank and donate any items in your pantry that you won't be eating. We all buy stuff we think we are going to use but then we don't. I have been couponing for over a year now and it struck me the other day that it'd be so easy to get something with my coupons that is either free or cheap and donate those items to the food pantry. It wouldn't cost much if anything at all and it could really help a family in need. If you coupon please consider this option.

Feeding America is another great program helping families. If you can afford a small donation then send it. I do a lot of online surveys and I have decided to start donating a portion of my earnings to this cause. It won't cost me anything to do it and again I'll be helping a family in need. One in eight Americans depend on Feeding America to put food in their stomach. If you can help in any way it would be wonderful.

There are a ton of small ways that we can help people, even if we can't afford to take it out of our paycheck. You just have to get a little creative!

Bad Service

I placed an order about a week or so ago on Amazon for some Eneloop batteries. They are said to be the best for my new camera that I got for Christmas. I was so excited to get them, and oh by the way I got free shipping. I love free shipping!

So I went to check the status of my order and it said there was an attempt to deliver but they were unable. I don't understand why FedEx hands so many of their packages over to USPS but ok what ever. Once I seen that it had been turned over to USPS I knew why it hadn't been delivered, the weather. We've had all this snow and I knew they couldn't get up my driveway, that is if they even went down my street. So I call the post office because it says I can pick it up. The lady on the phone asked me if I had the pink pick up slip and I explained to her that I didn't believe they had even made it down my road. So she said as long as the address on the package matched my drivers license I would be able to pick it up. She then proceeded to check and make sure that it was in fact there. It was.

So I stopped at the post office on my way home from work to pick up my package. Get up to the counter and explain that a package had been attempted to be delivered and they weren't able to. I didn't have the pink slip but that I had spoke to someone and she said as long as it matched my DL I could get it. The lady asks for my name and address. She then asks "was this shipped through us?" No it hadn't been. "How do you know it was attempted to be delivered?" Well I tracked it online and it said it had and that it was available for pick up. She says to me "well you can't always trust those things." I explained that I had talked to someone and she assured me it was there. She says again "You can't trust those things" and pretty much dismisses me and starts to call the next person. Of course I got a little upset and said "Excuse me, but I did talk to someone and she assure me that it was here!" She rolled her eyes and said "I'll go look, but it's not here!"

So she huffed to the back, complaining to a coworker on the way to look. Guess what she emerged with...my package. Oh and not just mine, but another one they had attempted to deliver for my husband! HAHAHA stupid lady, stop being lazy and do your freaking job!

Customer service is very important. When the post office starts to wonder why their business is going down hill, it's because technology has increased, and your employees aren't worth a damn! Every time I have to deal with them, it's never a pleasant experience.

Trivia About Me Meme

I'm linking up with Sunday Stealing today for Trivia About Me Meme! This will be a fun little way for y'all to get to know me a little better.

Do you get regular massages? Oh I wish I did, even if Prince Charming would give me a 10 min massage a couple times a week I'd be happy.

Do you have an answering machine? Does voice mail count? We had an answering machine for the longest time. Even with voice mail available we still relied on the answering machine.

What cuss word do you use the most? Oh do I really have to admit to this...I use the F word a lot. I know how horrible it is, but I just do.

Are you underweight or overweight? Neither, but I want to lose 15 lbs so I feel comfortable in my skin again.

Can you see your veins? Some of them, they are easy to seek when the vampires want to take tubes of my blood.

Favorite…

Soap? Bath & Body Works

Fruit? I've recently discovered Clementines and I love these things.

Kind of red meat? Depends on my mood really but I don't like steak.

Fish? YUCK!

Candy bar? Hershey's

Have You Ever…

Eaten a whole bag of potato chips? Not at one time, though some nights I think I could if I didn't force someone to remove them from my death grip.

Eaten lobster? Yes, and it's ok but not something I really ever want.

Climbed a mountain? HA...I'm lucky to climb to the top of my driveway.

Been skydiving? Heck no, I'll keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.

Been water skiing? Nope, I don't like the water either.

Do You…

Wish you could change something about your life? There is a lot of things I would change, but I've got what I've got so I'll be happy with it.

Like your nose? No, but I'd never have a nose job done.

Like salt and vinegar chips? Nope

Eat salsa? Love it, especially the fresh kind you get at the Mexican restaurants.

Own a boat? No, again I don't like the water, but Prince Charming would love to have one again.

What Is…

A small thing that people let slide but that actually has dire consequences? I have no idea, this takes too much thinking and I'm too tired for that right now.

Your most macho trait? I'm not sure I have one, but I'll work on that right away.

The longest relationship you’ve ever had? With Prince Charming, we've been together 7 years, and married almost 3 years.

Your most embarrassing thoughts? Like I'm going to admit to those.

Your most shameful moment? I have too many of those to pick just one.

This/That…

Bath/Shower? Bath

Markers/Crayons? Markers

Pens/Pencils? Pens

Jelly/Cream Cheese? Jelly

Bagel/Toast? Toast

Finish…

My greatest weakness is… my heart, I am a sucker for people and forgive too easily.

I wish I was… not so emotional.

Three things I wouldn’t do for a million dollars are… give up my family, give up my dog and live on an island alone.

The oddest thing I’ve ever put in my mouth is… uhmm...this is a family friendly blog! :)

Firsts…

Credit card you had? Mastercard

Loan you got was for? A car

Paycheck was for how much? I have no idea

Time you had stitches? I think I was about 6ish or so.

Time you went to the hospital for something? I go to the hospital like I go to Walmart...I don't remember the first.

Lasts…

List everything you ate in the last 24 hours? Chicken Wings, onion rings, peanut butter cookies.

Last thing you used a credit card for? Christmas shopping

What was your job previous to the one you have now? ChaCha guide (still do it)

Last thing you celebrated? Christmas

Last time you were at a sports bar? It's been over a year, I don't go to sports bars often.

Swagbucks is a site that rewards you for things that you do every day like search the internet. Every time you complete a search you have a chance to win Swagbucks. You can cash your Swagbucks in for cash or prizes. My personal favorite is the $5 Amazon Gift Card.

Now Swagbucks has stepped it up and they Free Games on their site. If you know me, you know I love playing games on the computer. These are some great Flash Games and are a ton of fun, and maybe just a tiny bit addictive.

I love puzzle games and word games. The two I love the most...so far :) is Rock 'n' Ball and Word Chain Plus. Be sure to check them out! In the games they have tournaments which you can use your Swagbucks for and win some Swagbucks! YAY! I love a little competition!

Another bit of exciting news...from right now until Friday, January 14th at 11:59 pm you can use the code SBGames when you sign up for an additional 30 Swagbucks. That doubles your sign up bonus! Remember when you use a code to use it just the way I put it with no spaces before or after it.

Being a better college student in 2011 - Guest Post

Guest post written by Amelia Bridges

I had a few slip-ups last semester at college and am determined that this semester I'm going to be a much better student. No more sleeping in and skipping classes. I'm actually going to read all of the assigned reading for this year too. I just hope that I'll stick to these resolutions.

While I was still home for the holidays, I used my parents' Wireless Internet Service to print off all of my class materials like syllabi and reading schedules and put them in a notebook for each class so that I could keep up with each assignment. I also wrote down all of my reading assignments when I was in my planner so I'll have a constant reminder of what I need to do.

I think that if I keep organized and stick to what I'm supposed to do, that I'll keep my college New Year's resolution. Another one of my ideas to keep my resolution is to sit near the front of the class in every class so that Iƕll be forced to pay attention and will be less distracted by other students.

Stop Puppy Mills

Yes I know this is hard to look at, but can you imagine having to live in these conditions, with no way out? The animals are defenseless they depend on their owners to care and love for them. What if you were in that situation? Nobody who really loved or cared for you. Just wanted you for breeding purposes and once you were no longer able to breed to be put down. That is just how these places work. I've always been a strong advocate for stopping such things. I think the more people who know and understand this will think twice about where they get their pets from. We can stop this!
Can you stand to see a dog look like this? Because that's what they typically look like when they come out of there. They are abused, malnourished, inbred, and full of diseases. Nobody really loves them. They don't have a voice, so we must speak for them. I know these pictures are hard to look at, but I want to drive the point home! I want you to feel in your heart what these animals go through.

Yes there is something you can do. I have gathered some facts for you to read about puppy mills from The Humane Society of the United States.
  • Puppy mills are large scale operations that force breeder dogs to produce litter after litter to support consumer demand for puppies.
  • These puppies are sold in pet stores or over the Internet, storefronts that mask the suffering, disease, malnutrition, and loneliness of puppy mills. Even the puppies themselves are prone to a variety of illnesses. Some die within days or weeks of purchase.
  • Most people are unaware that when they buy a puppy from a pet store, via the Internet, or any place they have not visited in person, they are often supporting a cruel and inhumane industry.
  • By choosing not to buy your next pet or any pet supplies from retail stores or Internet sites that sell dogs or cats, you are directly helping to end this cycle of cruelty.

Now I ask of you to go sign this pledge to do your part in not supporting puppy mills! I thank you and so do the many animals that it could save.

I want to show you a dog, one who I fell so deeply in love with in a matter of seconds. His name is Doc:
That's him the day I got him, so freaking cute and playful! He was a doll and really enjoyed eating fingers and:
hair...they were his favorite chew toys. He had a good hold of my hair and if I moved he barked and went crazy, he wanted his toy back!
He was so cute and little and fit right in a hat! One of his favorite places to hang out.
And this is where I cry....
I was uninformed and uneducated about buying dogs from puppy stores, which is exactly where we got him from. You see that big head on that little body...it was filled with water. He came from a puppy mill.
Within a few weeks he looked like this, and I couldn't get him to eat. I rushed him to the vets and that is when I found out about the water on his brain. They gave me syrup to try to get him to gain weight, I thought I had at least a few months.
Little did I know that the next morning when I woke up, I would be holding Doc in my hands as he struggled for breath. I told him I loved him, and that he was so special to me, but that it was ok to go so he wouldn't suffer. A few minutes later Doc died while I was kissing him on the head breaking down as I am now.
So please before you buy a dog from a store, or on the internet think twice! Why not rescue a dog, or adopt one. Foster one if you have the ability to. Save these babies that don't have a voice!

I Know What I Need

I have blog post ideas come to me at the most inconvient times. Like last night for instance, I'm all relaxed in the tub and something pops in my head, then another, and I'm thinking...I've really got to blog about these things.

Well if you know me, you know I have a very small memory slot in my brain. By time I had thought up 5 post ideas they escaped my brain before I got out of the tub. So if I could have a waterproof laptop that I can take with me literally everywhere I would be much better off. Paper and pen don't work well in the tub either so don't tell me to write it down.

I also have my stupid moment of the year to share with you. I of course only have one of these moments a year and this time I used it up early in the year.

My Lexi cute and sweet as she is cooked dinner for her mommy. She made Hamburger Helper and did it all by herself. So I'm scooping my food out in a plastic bowl and I hear it sizzling. I look at my food like "uhm you aren't suppose to be making that noise in my bowl!" That's when Lexi freaked out, grabs my bowl and yells "MOM, you don't set a plastic bowl on a hot burner!!!" Oh well of course I didn't know that! So I now own a bowl that has no bottom to it...ok well it's in the garbage but I own it until it gets to the dump. Now for my poor flat top stove I have no idea how I'm going to scrape that burnt plastic off of it.

Favorite New Year's Eve Program - Guest Blogger

Authored by Leandro Delgado

I absolutely love watching Dick Clarke's New Year's Rockin' Eve Special on my Direct tv. Not only is it a great time for my family and friends to celebrate the coming new year, it also provides amazing music from the latest and greatest artists. It truly is a rockin' time and a great way to bring all those close to me together.

Dick Clarke has been hosting this special since the year 1972. I love watching his vivacious and lively personality as the timer on the right hand side counts down slowly to the new and upcoming year. Recently though, Clarke has had a new partner to help with hosting. Ryan Seacrest has been helping to host this program since 2000 to help Clarke while he recovered from a severe stroke.

What I love the most about this program is the sense of family and love that stems from it. When the sparkling ball drops, all those who have crowded in Times Square in the freezing cold give their loved ones kisses and Clarke always makes sure to give his wife a loving kiss to welcome the New Year. The special also takes note of other celebrations that take place all around the globe.

I really recommend Dick Clarke's New Year's Rockin' Eve for those who love today's current music and those who also wish to start the new year with a bang. This show will bring a smile to anyone's face. It always does for me.

I Promised - Now I Deliver

Ok so y'all know I got a new camera for Christmas and I was a little super excited over it. So the first chance I got I took the girls out to take their pictures. I want you to know that I only took 75 175 pictures in one hour. No no I'm not gonna make you look at all 175 but I am gonna make you look at some of them! So here goes!

Ok now you can tell me how beautiful my girls are and what a great wannabe photographer I am!

Amber Alert

Today I learned something new about the Amber Alert system that really gets under my skin. (That's my way of saying it pisses me off without saying it)

There is a missing teenager in Texas, her name is Hailey Dunn. Hailey Dunn is 13 years old and has been missing since December 27, 2010. She was supposed to spend the night at a friends house but never showed up there and her mother called the police the next day when she found out that she didn't return home.

Local police attempted to issue an Amber Alert but weren't able because there was "not enough information." Well isn't a child missing ENOUGH information? Isn't this system in place to find missing children? I was wrong! It appears that a missing child has to meet criteria to be put on the Amber Alert System. I had no idea that such criteria was in place. I thought we cared for ALL our missing children. Seriously if a child ran away, why not put that child on the Amber Alert system? Yes, they ran away...but does that make them any less important in finding them and ensuring their safety? I am not in anyway stating that is the case with Hailey Dunn.

So as it goes for an Amber Alert to be put out they must meet the following criteria:
*There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred. (Again I feel ALL our missing children are important...not just some)
*The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death. (I guess if they aren't in danger it doesn't matter. Never mind it might be a parent who loves their child but doesn't have the right to have them)
*There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child. (This is the case with Hailey Dunn...there is not enough information...ridiculous in my eyes)
*The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger. (I understand this one perfectly fine)

Each state also has the right to add their own criteria as well. I am so saddened that an alert can't be put out for this girl or other children in similar situations. Yes this one bothers me a lot!

Cervical Cancer Awareness

January is cervical cancer awareness month. This is something that hits close to home since both my sisters and myself have had it. I feel it is so important to educate people on this topic. So many have a misconception about what it is and how it's caused.

*In the United States, About 11,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year and 4,000+ women die in the USA each year from this disease.

(That's an insane amount! I wonder if educating people more would help that number go down. )

*11% of United States women report that they do not have their Pap test screenings.

(I wonder if that 11% really knows how important this is to their health?)

*High-Risk HPV Types are directly related to cervical cancer, yet many women are unaware of what HPV is or the relationship it has to cervical cancer.

(This is my goal...to educate more people.)

The National Cervical Cancer Center (NCCC) have some goals of their own.

*Maintain an on-going support system for women, family members and friends facing issues related to cervical cancer, HPV and other HPV cancers.

*Continue growing its existing recognition in the United States and ongoing recognition worldwide as a primary clinical and public education resource clearinghouse on cervical cancer, HPV related topics and other related cancers;

*Advocate for patient access to quality care and regular testing and vaccination to prevent cervical cancer/HPV disease

*Reduce the stigma associated with cervical cancer and HPV disease.

For the month of January women can get a free or low cost screening. Please go here to find a center in your state.

Cute Stocking Stuffers for My Daughters

Guest post written by Samantha Griffin

I got almost all of my Christmas shopping done on Thanksgiving weekend when shipping was free and the deals were amazing. But one thing that I did neglect about Christmas stuff until this past week was getting stocking stuffers. I had kind of forgotten about it until I had all of the gifts all wrapped up and under the tree. I was so satisfied with myself and then I remembered I hadn't gotten any stocking stuffers yet.

So before I headed off to Walmart to get some, I decided to go online to try and get some good ideas about what to get so I wouldn't get too distracted or spend more time in there right before Christmas than I had to. While I was online I randomly came across this one website www.cleartvbundle.com and after I read through it some, I decided to sign up for internet service through it.

I did find some cute stocking stuffers, like little picture frame magnets that my daughter can put up in their lockers and lots of lip gloss, which they go through like nobodyƕs business.
