HELP!
Ok I know I promised funny on Fridays but well I'm not in a funny kind of mood. You may have seen this on my FaceBook but I'm up to my eyeballs in rage right now. This horse needs help and I am bound and determined to find it help. I can't take driving by this poor thing day after day and seeing it like this. So I'm posting a picture for all to see and hoping someone will have an answer. Funny will be back next Friday.

That is horrible! Is there some sort of animal control investigation where you live, someone you could call? Or a local humane society? They may not have all the answers, but they might have resources or references and point you in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteAnimal neglect makes me *really* angry and I always want to take in more furry babies and give them a good home, but Honey reminds me that five is probably our limit, so I start looking for other ways to help.

What steps have been taken so far? I'm assuming you have contacted animal control. Have they contacted you back?

After that is photo documentation, DO NOT ENTER OWNERS PROPERTY- only do so from the road. Document how long this has been going on and what steps to obtain help have been made.
Has anyone stopped and talked to the owners? Has anyone offered to buy the horse from them? (I know- sounds weird but.... its always worth a shot.) Often times, taking a proactive approach with owners and being polite, calm and educational can go a long long ways.
Email me too- I might can put you in touch with a lady who can offer more information. A lot of it is state specific though (which breaks down to individual counties and towns) so learning what is acceptable in your area will give you an advantage. (ie: one area I lived in said as long as there was hay and water ON THE PROPERTY, animal control could do nothing- even if the horse was a 1 on the body score scale.)
Call the animal control. My mom did that on some people who lived near her because their horses looked like that and also lived in a field of a foot deep mud.

ReplyDeleteI agree with all the above. Animal control and Human Society must be called.We had similar problem with a farm in our town and once someone called n them it was all over the news and they removed all of their animals.
