So I went to the Dr's, a neurologist. First the nurse comes in and asks me all those great questions, which I throw her off on.
Nurse: Do you do any recreational or street drugs?
Me: Yeah, you know just the occasional marijuana, a little heroin, and once in a while some crack cocaine!
Nurse: (Jaw on the floor)
Me: Geez, do you really expect someone to tell you the truth if they use illegal drugs.
Nurse: Well you may have been that one super honest person that came in.
Me: Yes, I'm super honest, but I don't do drugs.
Nurse: Now I'm gonna ask you about your families medical history, just yes or no to these questions.
Me: Yes
(My family has had just about everything there is out there)
Dr comes in and does all his doctor neurolgical tests and tells me that the lump on my back and the pain I feel is not neurological, but he wants me to get an MRI and see him again, and he would also like me to do physical therapy.
Ok so let me think about this: It's not neurological (no magic fix there) but you want me to go get an MRI and see YOU again? Why, you are a neurologist? Am I missing something here? And he can't tell me what the pain is from, other than the lump being there, and he can't tell me what the lump is or why it's there, but you want me to do physical therapy why? I want to know why and what that darn lump is!!!!
So now that you know how the trip went, let me also say that this place looked like one of those free medical clinics in the ghetto. Don't get me wrong, I am not against free clinics, but the table was held sturdy by placing some books under the leg. The people in the lobby scared me, and the chairs were so old you could see ass prints in them.
I feel like that was a waste of $30 and trip.
Get a new doctor.
ReplyDeleteNo one can even identify what it is with the lump?
I have never been to one myself, but have you considered chiropractor?
Orthopedist?
I took TW around to many drs over a few year period and one finally said early onset alzheimer's. Duh. That's one thing I was thinking all along.
Either drs suck in general or they are so worried about covering their asses both legally and insurance co. wise.
It's all pretty disgusting.
I hope you can find relief somehow.
What a Freakin' waste of your time.. you probably felt worse after!! And I have everything against the patient care and interior of free clinics in the ghetto.. been there too many times! Blah!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Keep pushing. Ask more questions. I am sorry that was such a rotten experience. That is so frustrating when you think you are on the right path and someone screws it up.
ReplyDeleteYou are a beautiful blogger, Melissa and Here Is The Proof
ReplyDeleteThe stack of books under the leg would be slightly disconcerting to me too! You've got me worried about you now with this MRI!
ReplyDeleteI can picture you doing that to the nurse. I hope you find out what is wrong soon.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that you wasted your time today. I hope that you find a doctor that can help you soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm with everyone else. You need to find a new doctor. Somebody has to figure out what's going on.
ReplyDeleteI always laugh at those questions at the doctors. Really, are people going to admit to that stuff?
ReplyDeleteHaha! your answer to the drug question has me LMAO! I hope you find out soon whats going on
ReplyDeleteOh my heck. I would not go back there. I hope you get this fixed soon. :(
ReplyDeleteYou could've given your copay to youor neighbor! Everyone is a doctor now a days. So, I guess I can be one today. Has anyone referred you for a biopsy? If it's not neurological then it has to be something else.
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel better, they don't know what's wrong with me either. And said I need a colonscopy. I'm 28.. aren't you supposed to be 50 for those?
Don't you just love when you're smarter than the doctor? I've had my share of dr. visits myself.
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
ReplyDeleteYou are a riot. Thanks for making me chuckle!
eeeewwww...doesn't sound like a place I want to go. Hang in there girl. You will find out what's going on soon (I hope). So...are ya going back after your MRI?
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate that? Seems like everytime I take my son to the doc the say virus. blah, blah, blah.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting from CCCW! I am following back and look forward to getting to know you!!
Loved your answer to the illegal drugs--imagine her face if you told her you were a dealer and you grew your own pot. Lol!
ReplyDeleteBut in seriousness I hope they figure something out. I'm thinking that maybe the neurologist will read the MRI and pass on the info to your doctor? Maybe? Hoping?
Hope you get some answers hun...
